160,000 men, women and children died for this flag. It was known as the stainless banner, it was the second national flag of the confederacy. It was referred to as "The" battle flag of the confederacy. The stars on the flag represents the number of states in the confederacy, there were 2 stars added when Kentucky and Missouri joined in 1861. Some people see the flag as racist when others(like me) see the flag as a historical symbol representing pride in the southern united states.
